I have recently moved into a new mews house, this obviously has new plasterboard walls. I would like to mount my new Sony 40″ TV onto the wall however I am unsure what bracket type to go for, or if there are any hints or tips I can use when mounting?
Also does any one know what kind of fixings would be needed, or if these come in most bracket packs? Any advice that anyone has for me would be much appreciated as I would like the TV to stay on the wall and not end up on the floor!
Answer:
My advice would be to use a stud finder from a local hard ware store to find the wooden studs in your plasterboard wall. Once these have been found I would mount your bracket to these rather than the actual plasterboard itself.
Finally if I were you with a 40″ TV I would mount to more than one stud to allow the weight of the TV to be spread.
A bracket with a larger back plate would be more suitable such as the following: http://www.bracketsuk.com/c/TV-Brackets-By-Size/33-to-70/p/Tiltable-Wall-Mount-TV-Wall-Bracket-33-to-60—BT1BLK-BT1BLK/
When I bought the above bracket it came with all the fixtures and fittings needed for both the TV and the plasterboard wall.
